RESIDENCE HALL RENOVATIONS UNDERWAY

Continuing a decade-long renovation of major campus facilities and the construction of new facilities, Hegeman Hall will receive a "top to bottom" renovation this summer. The project is slated for completion in time for the start of the 2009-2010 school year, with a similar renovation of Monro Hall anticipated for Summer 2010.

A centerpiece of the Hegeman Hall renovation is a complete reconfiguration of the entryway and lounge. In addition, the east and west patios will be rebuilt, new lighting fixtures and doors installed throughout the building, and each dorm room refitted with new furniture.

Hegeman Hall was constructed in 1924 through the generosity of the John R. Hegeman Foundation as a result of the support of Hegeman's executor, who was charged with making grants to "worthy institutions." Mr. Hegeman was president of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.

The SBS Board of Trustees has set the pace with generous leadership gifts toward the $1 million project cost, joined by numerous Hegeman alumni. Naming opportunities are available, as listed in the project brochure, and multi-year pledges are encouraged.
